Who We Are
Tony Ray, a 5th generation Floridian, has seen his share of family members suffer as they were dying of a terminal illness. In 2020 he contacted the Death with Dignity National Center and asked what he could do to help. With their guidance, he started the Florida Death with Dignity group in November 2020.
Florida Death with Dignity is determined to raise awareness and fight for expanding end-of-life options in our state. It is time for the Sunshine State to join other U. S. jurisdictions having a medical aid in dying law, to make it possible for Floridians with a terminal illness to access the same autonomy and individual freedom while dying as they enjoyed while living.
Our proposed legislation, the "Florida End of Life Options Act", is modeled after the original Oregon Death with Dignity Act voted into law in the 10 states and Washington, DC which currently have a medical aid in dying law. We are talking with legislators about the strict requirements and safeguards included in our proposal and asking them for their views.

A grassroots movement needs people to lead, organize, and educate others in order to grow and successfully achieve its goals. This effort is no different. If you believe Florida should have a medical aid-in-dying option as a consideration in addition to the existing end of life care options (Hospice, Palliative Care, etc.) and you are passionate about that, this organization needs you. If you have time to help, contact us now to volunteer.
