Who We Are

Our Story
Tony Ray, a fifth-generation Floridian, witnessed the suffering of loved ones as they faced terminal illness. In 2020, he reached out to the Death with Dignity National Center, asking how he could make a difference. With their guidance, he founded the Florida Death with Dignity group in November 2020. In 2024, we became Florida End-of-Life Options to align more closely with our proposed legislation.

Our Mission
Florida End-of-Life Options is committed to raising awareness and advocating for expanded end-of-life choices in our state. It’s time for the Sunshine State to join the 11 states plus Washington, D.C. that already have medical aid in dying laws. Floridians with a terminal illness deserve the same autonomy and freedom in dying that they enjoyed while living.

Our Legislation
Our proposed bill, the Florida End-of-Life Options Act, is modeled after Oregon’s groundbreaking Death with Dignity Act. We are working closely with legislators to explain the strict safeguards and requirements included in the proposal and to gather their support.

How You Can Help
